decree absolute (used only in connection with dissolution of marriage) (decree nisi – After the pronouncing of the decree nisi, and before it is made absolute, any person may show cause why the decree should not be made absolute, eg, because it had been obtained by collusion, etc. Failing any such intervention, the party who has obtained the decree normally applies for and is granted, a decree absolute, when the parties are finally divorced – JBS( ● final award; final judgment
